Lettuce

Variety characteristics - medium-early variety forms thick, pronouncedly curly bright green leaves. Weight of the head 300 g. For early harvest in greenhouses, 20-30-day-old seedlings are exhibited at a distance of 20-25 cm. In open ground sown in May, June 0.5-1 cm depth, the spacing between plants 10-12 cm. Grows in 53-60 days. After ingestion, it regrowth. Plants high frost resistance - to -5oC. Variety resistant to bloom. Not bitter. Not demanding to heat, likes light. Lettuce leaves contain proteins, carbohydrates, minerals, various vitamins.

Lettuce in unfertilized variants after planting grew very slowly and did not form green mass, it was 1-2% of the green mass of fertilized variants. Two times ChitoHumus was applied (C1 and C2) at doses - 0.1 l ha-1 and 0.2 l ha-1, harvested at market maturity in fertilized version, but unfertilized were undeveloped and weight negligible.

The number of pages did not differ significantly in the variants. The leaf length only in the variant - NPK C2 was 2 cm longer lettuce. Green mass was also higher by 10.3% in the variant - NPK C2 compared to the control. Dry higher was under control.

The roots were difficult to wash out in the peat substrate, so some of the roots may have broken and the mass cannot be objectively determined due to peat particles that are tightly attached to the roots. Therefore, the determined root length is not accurate (biased). The root collar diameter was equivalent in all fertilized varieties.

The quality of lettuce. The protein content in the fertilized varieties was 138-144%. In the unfertilized ones, crude fibres could not be determined because the dry matter was insufficient. The amount of wood fibre in the fertilized was equivalent in the variants. Potassium and magnesium were more in the fertilized variants, and calcium in the unfertilized variants.

For an objective evaluation of the bioproduct, the trial must be repeated, because single results give an incomplete picture of the effects of the investigated products.

Peas - 1st series

Peas ‘Casablanca’ is a yellow pea variety with good yields and high protein content in the seeds. It has been grown in Latvia for several years, obtaining stable harvests. Forms medium-high plants with good stem stability. Representative of breeder rights: KWS Lochow GmbH.

ChitoHumus (C1 and C2) at doses of 0.1 l ha-1 and 0.2 l ha-1, applied 3 times during growth.

The green mass was harvested at the beginning of flowering, because due to high humidity there was a strong spread of mildew and further cultivation would not be productive. The mass of the fertilized varieties was about 4 times higher than that of the unfertilized ones. The use of ChitoHumus (C1) provided 9.7% green mass increase and ChitoHumus (C2) 33.9% green mass increase.

The roots were difficult to wash out in the peat substrate, so some of the roots may have broken and the mass cannot be objectively determined due to peat particles that are tightly attached to the roots. Therefore, the determined root length data were subjective.

Protein, potassium and phosphorus contents in the unfertilized varieties were increased with ChitoHumus, while in the fertilized varieties they were reduced. Crude fibre content on the contrary. Minimum criterion for quality feed > 14% dry matter.

For an objective evaluation of the bioproduct, the trial must be repeated, because single results give an incomplete picture of the effects of the investigated products.

ADF (associated with the structural components of the plant, in particular the cell walls) and NDF determine digestibility - the quality of peas as feed. Low NDF values are generally desirable as the NDF value increases as the feed ripens.

Peas — series 2

Pea variety ‘Salamanca’ is a high yield potential, early, protein pea variety, with good resistance to diseases, easy to pluck, high to very high resistance to mildew. Country of origin Germany, breeder representative Saaten-Union GmbH, quality group – food.

ChitoHumus (C1) and (C2) were applied twice and the peas were grown in soil harvested from the seed crop succession field No. ICC 1, the results of the analysis reflected in the methodology. For comparison, nitrogen fertilizer was used in two variants - dose N30 kg ha-1.

The green mass in the treated varieties was 18.8-27.6% higher than in the control. Plant length in the treated varieties was also 15-18.5% longer than in the control, so the peas had one string more. The soil separates from the roots more easily than peat substrate, so it was possible to determine the root mass and it was 6.1-44% higher in the treated variants compared to the control. Root length is also more objective and was 3.4-3.6% without fertilizer, but with fertilizer was equivalent or 20.6% greater.
